Hong Hua is a designer and creative technologist, currently based in Brooklyn, NY. His footprints have spanned Tsukuba, Beijing, Boston, and Pittsburgh. He has a background in industrial design and focuses on creating interactive experiences that scale from objects to spaces, combine software and hardware, merge virtual and physical. His creative practices are across the fields of design and fabrication of multi-media installations, design and development for interactive systems, industrial and interactive design for consumer electronic products, etc.
Hong holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from Tsinghua University and a master's degree in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design, The New School. He continued to engage in academia as a part-time faculty at Parsons, and guest lectured in Carnegie Mellon University, Cornish College of Arts, and Processing Foundation. He is currently a designer and creative technologist at Manyone. He has worked with Deeplocal, Smart Design, St. Joseph Studio Workshop, and The Future Lab at Tsinghua University, and collaborated with clients like Google, LinkedIn, OpenAI, Taco Bell, National Museum of Mathematics, etc.
Beside professional practices, Hong is a marathon runner who holds the local course record of half marathon laps around the Point State Park Fountain in Pittsburgh; a professional-amatuer cyclist that does ultra endurance bike trips; and a cat dad occasionally walking his boy Jenga in the front yard.
